February 8, 2010 - Toronto - ACTRA's National Council has elected a new National Executive and Treasurer to join National President Ferne Downey and Vice President Tyrone Benskin to form ACTRA's elected leadership. The new team includes a mix of experience and new energy from across the country.
The new National Executive beginning a two-year term is comprised of: Howard Storey (B.C), Brian Gromoff (Alberta), Shannon Jardine (Saskatchewan/Manitoba), Heather Allin (Toronto), Theresa Tova (Toronto), Tyrone Benskin (Ottawa/Montreal), Nigel Bennett (Maritimes/Newfoundland). Tyrone Benskin was acclaimed for his second term as National Vice President and Theresa Tova was acclaimed as the new National Treasurer.
Ferne Downey was elected to her two-year term as National President at the National Council meeting in May 2009.
The new Executive is ready to lead the union's upcoming collective bargaining challenges and continue the fight for Canadian programming. ACTRA's national leadership is also unified behind the union's 'iWorkACTRA' organizing campaign.
ACTRA (Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists) is the national organization of professional performers working in the English-language recorded media in Canada. ACTRA represents the interests of 21,000 members across Canada - the foundation of Canada's highly acclaimed professional performing community.
