November 9th, 2011 - The Conservative government has tabled legislation that will end the National long-gun registry. The registry was created as part of a response to public pressure, particularly through women, to strengthen gun control legislation following the tragic events at the École Polytechnique, December 6, 1989. Please support the CLC’s campaign to keep the registry.

ACTRA Welcomes Progress on International Treaty to Protect AV Performers
October 7th, 2011 - ACTRA welcomes the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) announcement to reconvene a diplomatic conference in 2012 to conclude an international treaty on the rights of performers in their audiovisual performances.
Federal Budget 2012 – ACTRA’s Take
August 12th, 2011 - Toronto – ACTRA has filed a submission to the federal government’s consultations for the 2010 budget. We are urging the government to seize on the full-economic potential of Canada’s cultural industries by making strategic investments such as bolstering tax incentives for content production, implementing a fair tax system for creators, and investing in the cultural institutions that create Canadian content.
New NFB Agreement – Vote now!
August 8th, 2011 - New NFB Agreement: Vote now! ACTRA has reached a settlement with the National Film Board of Canada (NFB) to renew our collective agreement with the NFB. Members eligible to vote are urged to vote yes before the September 1st deadline.
National Commercial Negotiations: Have your say!
March 23rd, 2011 - The National Commercial Agreement (NCA) expires on June 30, 2011. The agreement between ACTRA and the Institute of Communications and Advertising (ICA) and the Association of Canadian Advertisers (ACA) covers all English language television, radio and new media commercial work done in Canada by signatory advertising agencies.
