National Day of Mourning Statement by ACTRA National President Ferne Downey
April 28th, 2013 - “Every year on this date, workers and unions across Canada pause to mourn for workers who have been killed or injured on the job. Today ACTRA joins in remembering those workers and their families. We commit ourselves to continuing to work to improve protections in our collective agreements and in legislation. As performers, we know that sets can be dangerous workplaces. We’ve known performers who lost their lives or were seriously injured on set.
