Cary Lawrence
Montreal
Cary has been living and working in Montreal since her return from France in 1990. She is a graduate of École Jacques Lecoq in Paris and Bishop’s University Drama in the Eastern Townships of Quebec. Cary actively works both linguistic solitudes, in all categories. She donned 20’s attire in Nos Étés, and she was also a series lead in Tabou II, both for TVA. She lends her voice to TV and radio adverts in English but seems to spend most of her time playing the token ‘best friend’ in movies for US networks; the latest, Life Interrupted: The Debbie Smith Story, Till Lies Do Us Part, Deadly Encounter and other classic titles! She was a series lead in the hit TV series for Nickelodeon, Space Cases. Other film credits include Sticks and Stones, One Dead Indian, The Woods, The Favourite Game, Sherlock Holmes: Whitechapel Vampire and The Ghost of Dickens Past.
The stage remains her first love and Cary has worked in many summer stock theatres in Quebec, both in English and in French. Theatre credits include Saltwater Moon, Hedda Gabler, Chapter 2, and Run for Your Wife.
Cary became a council member for Montreal in 2004 and has more recently secured a seat on National Council. Cary sat at the negotiating table for the new IPA agreement and has learned so much about her beloved union, ACTRA, and is still learning how this wonderful beast works. Cary is married to writer Thomas LaPierre and has two wonderful daughters, Paige and Georgia.
