Rick Boland
Newfoundland
Rick Boland is an actor, writer and director living in St. John’s Newfoundland. He is Artistic Associate with Mary Walsh in CornerBoys, and is currently working on the new play Fort McMoney. He has been involved with theatre since the 70′s and has worked with the Newfoundland Travelling Theatre Company, the Mummer’s Troupe collective and was a founding member of the Rising Tide Theatre Troupe. In 1980 Rick Boland with Mary Walsh developed the RCA theatre company with the Resource Centre for the Arts.
His theatre project highlights include creating a new play development program allowing local playwrights to work with established Canadian directors and the development of RTT Young Company, which toured socially relevant theatre in Newfoundland schools. In 1991 he began development of a popular history pageant to play in the historic town of Trinity, now the anchor event in the Summer In the Bight Festival, acclaimed as the premier theatrical destination in the province.
Rick Boland has numerous film a credits including: Finding Mary March, The Divine Ryans, Extraordinary Visitor, The Breadmaker, The Wall and Diverted. His television credits include: Up at Ours, Tales from Pigeon Inlet, Yesterday’s Heroes and Hatching, Matching and Dispatching. He has several short film credits and has worked in industrial film with Bristol Communications and Target Marketing.
