Talia Pura’s Bio

Talia Pura
Manitoba

Talia is a member of ACTRA and EQUITY and has appeared in many feature films, television shows and independent shorts.  A highlight is her work with Guy Maddin in The Saddest Music in the World and Sombra Dolorosa. Recent roles include Guy’s Keyhole ‘Hauntings’ Project and Cashing In, Season 2. She has performed on many Winnipeg stages as well as in Toronto, Minneapolis and New York City.

Talia has written/produced/directed three short dramatic films, I Dream of You, Collections and The Strawberry Confession. She held a commission for CODE (Cultural Olympiad Digital Edition), Funded by Manitoba Film and Music, Aerial Artistry played at the Vancouver Olympics, 2010, as well as throughout the UK in preparation for the 2012 Olympiad.

As a playwright, Talia has had many performances, several publications and a CBC radio drama, Hillary.  Fringe Festival hits have included Confessions of an Art School Model, Bette Davis Eyes, Demons of the Mind and Metamorphosis. She is part of the Canadian Forces Artists Program, 2010. Her book, STAGES: Creative Ideas for Teaching Drama was published by J. Gordon Shillingford Publishing Inc. in 2002.

Talia’s performances in aerial dance have included solos with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, Elemental. She has also included aerial dance in several theatrical productions, such as her plays, Demons of the Mind and Metamorphosis, and in the role of Puck for SIR’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Talia teaches drama at the University of Winnipeg and coordinators a Youth Mentorship in the Arts Program for ACI (Arts and Cultural Industries Association of Manitoba). She is the president of the ACTRA Manitoba council.
