Canadian Performers Ratify Commercials Pact
October 31st, 2011 - ACTRA’s professional performers have ratified the National Commercial Agreement (NCA) by 98.5%. The NCA, negotiated between ACTRA and the Association of Canadian Advertisers (ACA) and the Institute of Communication Agencies (ICA), is the industry standard collective agreement that governs performers in English-language commercials in Canada.
ACTRA Welcomes Progress on International Treaty to Protect AV Performers
October 7th, 2011 - ACTRA welcomes the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) announcement to reconvene a diplomatic conference in 2012 to conclude an international treaty on the rights of performers in their audiovisual performances.
Performers Urge CRTC to be Vigilant in Monitoring Online Broadcasting
October 6th, 2011 - Artists welcomed the news today that the CRTC will continue to scrutinize the Canadian communications industry for changes to the way Canadians consume audio-visual content. ACTRA remains concerned that ‘over-the-top’ (OTT) broadcasters continue to operate without requirements to offer Canadian programming or making a contribution back into the Canadian broadcasting system.

ACTRA & Canadian Ad Industry Reach Tentative Settlement
September 20th, 2011 - ACTRA has reached terms of settlement with the Association of Canadian Advertisers (ACA) and the Institute of Communication Agencies (ICA) to renew the National Commercial Agreement (NCA). The parties to the NCA reached an accord last night with the assistance of a mediator following five months of bargaining.
ACTRA Members Vote “Yes” to Ratify New NFB Agreement
September 2nd, 2011 - ACTRA members have voted overwhelmingly to ratify the terms of settlement for the new collective agreement with the National Film Board (NFB). Of the members eligible to vote in the referendum, 100% voted in favour of the new terms which take effect immediately and expires April 30, 2013.
