Toronto – ACTRA Recording Artists’ Collecting Society (RACS) is partnering with The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) to sponsor the Rock Album of the Year Award at the 2012 JUNO Awards in Ottawa.
“The JUNO Awards honour outstanding performances by all of the Canadian artists that rocked our world this year,” said Ferne Downey, ACTRA National President. “ACTRA RACS is deeply committed to celebrating Canadian musical excellence and we’re proud to be part of this event.”
The 41st annual awards will take place in Ottawa from March 26 to April 1, 2012. The RACS-sponsored award will be presented at the JUNO Gala Dinner & Awards on Saturday, March 31st being held at the Ottawa Convention Centre. The JUNO Awards will be held on Sunday, April 1st at the Scotiabank Place and broadcast live on CTV.
ACTRA RACS is one of the organizations responsible for distribution of royalties collected on all tariffs related to sound recordings under Canada’s Copyright Act. ACTRA RACS is a division of the Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists (ACTRA) the national organization of more than 22,000 professional performers working in the English-language recorded media in Canada.
