PRS wants to pay out to all performers all monies that are due and owing to them. Unfortunately, performers sometimes forget to change their addresses or Estates do not keep us up to date on current contact information. As a result, PRS ends up with monies being returned to us that we have to categorize as No Known Address (“NKA”) monies. It is a lengthy administrative task to process monies going out let alone re-issue them again when monies are returned. PRS wants our NKA to be $0, and we rely on all members of ACTRA to help keep us informed of where your money should be sent.
If you are a performer who has Use Fees under an ACTRA agreement production we might have some money waiting for you either because it was returned to us or the cheque we sent was not cashed for some reason. If…
- you worked in a residual category on a production made in Canada. We may have collected Use Fees for you. This includes performers in film, TV, documentary or commercial productions;
- you are an Estate Trustee or administrator for a performer noted above PRS may have funds payable to the performer’s estate;
- you are holding on to an uncashed cheque from PRS; or
- you have moved and not updated your address with ACTRA.
If you answered ‘Yes’ to any of these questions, ACTRA PRS may be holding an unclaimed residual payment for you.
If your name or a performer you know is listed, please contact Judy Land at 416-644-1516 or jland@actra.ca. We’d be happy to hear from you and arrange for payment.
