Dan Libman’s Bio

Dan Libman

Daniel Libman – playwright, actor, director, and teacher – was born and raised in Montreal, and has been based in Calgary since 1982.  He trained at Dawson College, the University of Alberta, and the Young Company under Michael Langham.

With over 35 years’ experience as an actor, Daniel works regularly in film and TV, with many supporting roles and guest appearances to his credit.  As a playwright, his work has seen over 50 productions in theatres across Canada and the U.S., and one – Cecil & CleopaYtra – was under option for commercial Off-Broadway. He has directed plays in Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon and Winnipeg. For many years, Daniel was a member of the Board (and then the Executive) of Canadian Actors’ Equity Association, and most recently sat on the board of Theatre Alberta.  A freelance political and corporate speech writer, Daniel has also spent much of his life coordinating (and instructing at) Theatre School programs – first at Theatre Calgary, then at The EPCOR CENTRE, Quest Theatre, and now at the Calgary Actors’ Studio.
