Bruce Greenwood to receive ACTRA Award of Excellence in L.A.

January 18th, 2011 – TORONTO – ACTRA will honour Canadian star Bruce Greenwood with an ACTRA Award of Excellence on Thursday, January 27 in recognition of his contribution to Canada’s film and television industry. ACTRA’s National President Ferne Downey will present the award at a special afternoon reception at the Canadian Residence of David Fransen, Consul General of Canada in Los Angeles.

Bruce Greenwood is known to audiences around the world for his diverse film and television performances. From The Sweet Hereafter and Exotica to 13 Days and John From Cincinnati, his work is detailed and passionate. He has managed over the years to divide his time and efforts between big-budget shows and independent film almost equally; from Star Trek to Mao’s Last Dancer the choices have been varied and challenging.

The ACTRA National Award of Excellence recognizes a member’s career achievements and contribution to fellow performers and the Canadian industry. Previous recipients include Lloyd Bochner, Eugene Levy, Leslie Nielsen, Sandra Oh, Kiefer Sutherland and Tonya Lee Williams.
