ACTRA is conducting this Member Census so we can have accurate information about our membership to help us better understand the demographic composition of our membership and identify potential employment barriers experienced by members across Canada.
ACTRA will use the aggregate data collected through the ACTRA Member Census to have informed discussions about the issues affecting our members and to improve the working lives of performers. It will provide us access to independent and verifiable data related to any issues of inequality experienced by our members. This information will influence our collective bargaining objectives, public policy work, diversity and inclusion efforts, and help us deliver better services to all of our members.
We want to hear from ACTRA members from every region, membership category, race, ability, age, and gender and sexual identity. It is essential ALL members participate in the Member Census to allow ACTRA to fully understand the composition of our membership as well as any employment barriers experienced by our members across the country. Also, by completing the Member Census, you will be entered into the contest for a chance to WIN ONE OF FOUR $150 VISA Gift Cards!
The legal age for completing a survey according to the Canadian industry policy is 16 years of age or older. If a member is 15 years of age or under, parental consent must be provided. While participation is not mandatory, all ACTRA members are strongly encouraged to complete the National ACTRA Member Census. Your participation is of the utmost importance to help ACTRA better understand and serve its membership.
You will be asked questions about your age, gender and sexual identity, race, work opportunities, membership category, ability and region.
The ACTRA Member Census is open to all active (as of June 30, 2021) ACTRA Full, Full Senior, Full Life, Apprentice and ACTRA Additional Background Performer Members.
Ipsos will provide ACTRA with a final report, which will include aggregate data about the ACTRA membership based on the information collected through the Census. It is anticipated this information will be available in fall 2021 after which ACTRA will share the results with ACTRA Members via Member E-blast as well as post it to www.actra.ca.
Following this Census, Ipsos may be conducting further research on behalf of ACTRA later this year to explore themes that might be emerging from the data collected in this Census. You may be contacted to participate in this research.
You may have taken an ACTRA Census in the recent past. But this one is different.
UBCP/ACTRA conducted its own Member Census earlier this year, but it was only open to UBCP/ACTRA Members. And ACTRA Toronto and ACTRA Ottawa teamed up in 2018 to conduct an Ontario-wide Member Census, but it was only open to their members.
This ACTRA Member Census is different. It is the first-ever national Census and is open to ACTRA Members from across the country.
