Jacob Leibovitch appointed ACTRA Director of Research

TORONTO – Stephen Waddell, ACTRA’s National Executive Director today announced that Jacob Leibovitch has been appointed ACTRA’s National Director of Research effective immediately.

Jacob brings with him extensive leadership skills in bargaining and research. He is a highly-experienced organizer and communications professional who comes to ACTRA from the Ontario Taxi Workers Union where he served as Executive Director. Prior to the Taxi Workers Union, Jacob was the Executive Director of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Canada.

Jacob will be responsible for directing all aspects of ACTRA’s Research Department including overseeing the compilation of statistical research to support ACTRA’s collective bargaining and public policy objectives. He will also provide information and counsel to ACTRA’s lead negotiators and negotiating committees during collective bargaining. He replaces Marit Stiles who now serves as ACTRA’s National Director of Public Policy and Communications.

ACTRA (Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists) is the national union of professional performers working in the English-language recorded media in Canada. ACTRA represents the interests of 22,000 members across Canada – the foundation of Canada’s highly acclaimed professional performing community.
