ACTRA Members Ratify Settlement with CBC

June 10, 2013

ACTRA’s professional performers have voted “yes” to ratify the terms of settlement for the new Television and Radio collective agreements negotiated with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC). A remarkable 97.5% of the cast ballots were in favour of the new agreement.

The new rates, terms and conditions for CBC-produced television, radio and digital media content are effective July 1, 2013.

Performers will see an increase of 1.5% in minimum fees; plus CBC will also make an additional contribution of .5% of gross performer fees to a scholarship programme to benefit all ACTRA members.  All other terms and conditions in the Television and Radio Agreements will remain unchanged.

“ACTRA has a 70-year history of collective bargaining with the CBC,” said Stephen Waddell, ACTRA National Executive Director. “Our strong and healthy working relationship benefits our performers and the interests of the Corporation.”

ACTRA (Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists) is the national organization of professional performers working in the English-language recorded media in Canada. ACTRA represents the interests of 22,000 members across Canada – the foundation of Canada’s highly acclaimed professional performing community.
