TORONTO, ON (February 12, 2018) — The ACTRA National Council elected Keith Martin Gordey to the position of Vice President of the national union last Saturday/Sunday. National Treasurer Theresa Tova was re-elected to her position. Mr. Gordey replaces Alvin Sanders, who stepped down as National vice president after serving in this role for almost seven years.

“I am happy to welcome Keith Martin Gordey to our ACTRA National Council in the role of vice president of our great union,” said ACTRA National President David Sparrow. “We have a great leadership team, and we’re all dedicated to providing the best service to our members through the work we do on collective bargaining, public policy and protecting performers’ rights.”

Mr. Gordey, Ms. Tova and Mr. Sparrow join Past President Ferne Downey and 22 National Councillors on the gender-balanced 2018/19 ACTRA National Council. Newly elected Council members include: Salvatore Antonio (Toronto); Francine Deschepper (Maritimes); Kelly Handerek (Saskatchewan); Winnie Hung (UBCP/ACTRA); Tristan D. Lalla (Montreal); Wendi Smallwood (Newfoundland); Joy Tanner (Toronto); and Jean Yoon (Toronto).

ACTRA’s National Council, composed of 24 National Councillors plus the National President and the Past President, is the principal policy-making Council within the union. In addition to their roles on National Council, Ms. Tova (Toronto) and Mr. Gordey (UBCP/ACTRA) also serve as president of their respective Branches.
