In 2010, ACTRA PRS launched direct deposit for Use fee payments in order to process payments more efficiently and cost-effectively. Since December 2017, cheques are only issued once a year in December to performers who have accumulated at least CAD $20 net in Use fees. As of March 2024, the minimum payment threshold of CAD $20 will also apply to direct deposit payments.

Payment policy details:

1. Performers who have registered for direct deposit at a Canadian or US financial institution will receive accumulated net Use fee payments of CAD $20 or greater as they become available throughout the year.
2. Performers who have not registered for direct deposit will receive a cheque at the end of the calendar year for accumulated net Use fee payments of CAD $20 or greater.
3. All performers are encouraged to register for ACTRA PRS direct deposit to avoid any delay in payment.

Service Charges

The ACTRA PRS service charge for administration of Use fees/residual and royalty payments, is detailed in the ACTRA by-laws. The service charge is currently 5% for full members in good standing, and 25% for non-members, inactive members, Apprentice members and full members not in good standing. The service charge is applied at the time ACTRA PRS prepares the distribution of funds to each performer. ACTRA’s membership approved these services charges in a referendum, which are essential to allow ACTRA PRS to pursue money owed to the membership.
