Back in 1975, large insurance firms were clearly uninterested in providing for the unique needs of self-employed radio, film, and TV artists. So, a visionary group of artists came together to create Actra Fraternal Benefit Society (AFBS), a fraternal organization, not driven by profit, to provide insurance programs, retirement and savings plans, and Fraternal Benefits to members of ACTRA and the WGC.

Over 50 years later, AFBS remains committed to nurturing the health and growing the wealth of Canadian performers and screenwriters so they can live life on the pages, stages, screens, and airwaves.
